Symptoms of Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration usually manifests as a slow, painless loss of central vision, though the loss can on rare occasions be sudden. Early signs of vision loss associated with AMD can include seeing shadowy areas in your central vision or experiencing unusually fuzzy or distorted vision.

Yellowish spots (drusen) that form in the back of the eye or retina can be an early sign of "dry" macular degeneration.
