How Vision Works

When people think about their sight, they normally think about their eyes with only a vague notion of the other parts of the vision system. In reality the vision system is very complex with sight only being truly realized in the visual cortex of the brain. However disruption to any part of the visual system can have a serious impact on our vision.

Having at least a basic understanding of how the eye works and the processes of vision is essential for understanding some of the terminology that inevitably creeps in when discussing eyesight and will also help with understanding how some of the steps we must take towards better vision will actually work. This knowledge is also useful when you need to discuss your eye condition with your eye doctor – you won't be blinded by science and will be able to ask informed questions.
